Game Review: Ironsworn

After playing it last night, Shawn Tomkin's Ironsworn has probably become my new favorite RPG for multiple session play! It is elegant, flexible, and evocative. I will try not to burden this review with too much detail on the mechanical design. I'll just say, as a gamewright, I am thoroughly impressed. It has de-throned Dungeon World as my go-to game for campaign play. It's marvelously innovative and deliriously fun! I hope you give it a try soon!

Game Review: The Warrior’s Journey

Mids Meinberg's The Warrior's Journey, is a powerful solo journal RPG that really opened my eyes to how moving the genre can be. This game has some very challenging themes and images. I was skeptical that it was going to pay off. For my money, it does and Meinberg has earned heaps of respect and trust from me for sticking the landing on a fairly brutal game.

Game Review: Alone Among the Stars

Alone Among the Stars is lovely game that can fuel your imagination and give you an alibi to just sit and write or draw for yourself. The game provides brief but juicy prompts that come from rolling 1d6 and pulling from a deck of playing cards.

Game Review: Grapefruit

Grapefruit is a book of art games by Yoko Ono. Reading a game in Grapefruit almost necessitates writing a new game in you head, and that's really cool! I also consider Grapefruit a MUST READ for all game designers!
